Woodstock Choir
Under the direction of Ryan McKendrick

Woodstock High School is one of the largest high schools in the Cherokee County School District, located 30 miles northwest of Atlanta, Georgia in the City of Woodstock.  Woodstock has received both the Gold and Platinum Awards for excellence in academics from the Georgia Governor’s Office of Student Achievement.  The Woodstock High School Chorus has maintained a tradition of excellence since the school’s opening in 1996.  This ensemble consistently earns Superior and Excellent ratings in both sight-reading and performance at local and regional choral festivals.  The chorus has traveled and performed in New York City, Nashville, Orlando, Savannah, and Washington, DC.  In 2004, the Woodstock High School Varsity Singers were selected to perform at the annual Georgia Music Educators Association in-service conference in Savannah, Georgia.  In 2008, the Varsity Singers were the Sweepstakes Award winners at the Southern Star Music Festival at Six Flags Over Georgia.  In 2010, the Varsity Singers received a Gold rating for their performance at the Heritage Festival in Nashville, Tennessee.  Mr. McKendrick has directed the choirs at Woodstock since 2007.



Ryan McKendrick has been the Choral Director at Woodstock High School since 2007.  Prior to his position at Woodstock, Mr. McKendrick served as a Graduate Assistant at Georgia State University, where he conducted the University Choral Society.  He received the Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and Church Music from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina and the Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia.  He has studied conducting with Duncan Couch, Alan Raines, Leslie Hicken, and Bing Vick.  He is a member of the Georgia Music Educators Association, Music Educators National Conference, American Choral Directors Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.  In addition to his duties at Woodstock, Mr. McKendrick also serves as the Choirmaster at Rivercliff Lutheran Church in Sandy Springs, Georgia.  He currently resides in Roswell, Georgia with his wife, Melinda.
