In its 22nd year history the New Year’s Day Parade has had just about everything: a marching elephant, a world-record attempt, a three-headed man and a fire-breathing dragon. It has also helped raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for charity, and has welcomed among its participants visitors from as far afield as the United States, Japan, South Africa and the Caribbean.
