The New Year's Day Parade London is proud of its distinguished list of active Patrons and Supporters. We are pleased to publish their messages of goodwill and New Year's greetings for 2008. Updated messages for the 2009 NYDP will be added later in the year.

I am delighted to have this opportunity to send my very best wishes andwarmest congratulations on the occasion of the London New Year's DayParade and Festival.

This very special event brings together the many communities of London, friends from overseas and visitors to the Capital. It provides a wonderful and positive way in which to celebrate London and thebeginning of the New Year, as well as raising thousands of pounds forlocal charities.

I am sure that this year's Parade and Festival will be a great success and would like to take this opportunity to wish all those involved anenjoyable day and a happy and peaceful 2009.

London is a world in a city.One thing that climate change has taught us about our world is that we are interdependent. The New Year's Day Parade with its international dimension is a wonderful way of celebrating our unity as a world community. It generates some joyful energy to help us practice what we preace.

I am delighted to support the New Year’s Day Parade in London. The Parade is a wonderful celebration of the rich diversity and talent in the City of London. I extend my kindest regards to all of the organisers, participants and spectators, and wish them every success for the Parade and the year ahead.

It may seem impossible, but it is incontestable and slightly discomfiting that another year has passed and we confront the twenty second birthday of the promising infant born on the 1st January 1987. In contrast to our discomfiture at time’s relentless passage, the world can see that the infant has grown in to a strapping, well-adjusted adult. London can rejoice in its parenthood, as can all of us who will enjoy today’s magnificent Parade.

May it set the tone for an abundance of health and happiness for all of us in the New Year.

On behalf of the City of Westminster, I should like most warmly to welcome Londoners and visitors, from the UK and abroad, to the New Year’s Day Parade. We are proud to host this event in our City which, over the last 23 years, has grown to become the largest celebration of its kind anywhere in the world.

I am delighted to host the Parade, and I am confident that it will be a great spectacle and a marvellous day out for everyone. There are participants from all over the world, helping to raise much needed funds for local charities across the whole of London.

The Parade makes our City a focal point for the world at the start of the New Year. My best wishes for the year ahead to all who are here to witness this fantastic event, and my congratulations to all the participants and those involved in making the Parade the great spectacle that it is.

May the spirit of hope and optimism continue to infuse us in 2009 as we seek to find the best in each other, to raise up those who need our support and to face the future with confidence.

Welcome to the City of Westminster and a warm welcome from the City Council and all local residents.  The historic streets of Westminster provide the perfect stage to bring in the New Year.  And with the exceptional range of entertainment on offer, it’s no wonder that the Parade – now in its 23^rd year – has established itself as such a terrific highlight in London’s entertainment calendar.

As Chairman of the London Mayor’s Association, I would like to thank the Mayors of all the London Boroughs who are represented at the Parade.  Their support for this outstanding event is hugely appreciated and represents the warm friendship and spirit of co-operation that we can take in to 2009 to make London an even more welcoming, diverse and successful world city. 

It never ceases to amaze and impress me how many high quality performers from all over the world come together to celebrate the New Year in Westminster.  So thank you to all those bands, performers and entertainers who have travelled from all over the country to be with us today.  As International Goodwill Ambassador for the Parade, it gives me particular pleasure to welcome and introduce so many international acts – from the USA and Europe - who have made London their destination of choice for these New Year festivities.

I hope you all enjoy the fun that you will agree that there simply isn’t anywhere else in the world where you can celebrate the New Year in such an impressive location with such exceptional entertainment. 

2008 has been a difficult year with unemployment rising  and morale falling. May 2009 be a better year. May peace reign in the world's trouble spots and in everyone's hearts.

A very happy New Year from the most multicultural borough in Europe.  I wish all the participants in the New Year's Day Parade 2009 well.

The New Year’s Day Parade is London at its very best. I am extremely proud to be representing the London Borough of Bromley as their Mayor this year. My thanks to all concerned in organising this most spectacular event. What a wonderful way to begin 2009. I wish you all a very happy new year.

I am delighted to support the London Parade 2009 which is one of the highlights of my Mayoral year.  This is a unique opportunity to showcase the multi faceted  talents and creativity  of the residents of this great City as well as welcoming guests from all corners of the earth.

London is an exciting and welcoming capital which as a Londoner I am proud of.  I want to congratulate the organisers and all the participants for putting on an excellent show and wish them and all from Haringey a peaceful New Year for 2009.

What better way to start the New Year than this spectacular event.    As life long Londoners the Mayoress and I are looking forward to a fantastic day, and send our thanks and best wishes to all who have worked so hard to make this a memorable day for all.
